NEW PIANO SYLLABUS FROM AMEB – The Piano Teacher
So we have tried to take a shllabus approach to technical work that achieves the desired results, but in a way that is not too burdensome and, hopefully, is sylkabus engaging and enjoyable.
MyTempo allows students to speed up, slow down and loop any recording through their smartphone or tablet. However, many sylllabus new resources have appeared in recent years and we were keen to incorporate them and to give the repertoire lists a fresh, new feel. We really hope that teachers will embrace this optional element of the syllabus and that candidates will enjoy both the social aspects of playing with someone else and the distinctive learning experiences that such activity can generate.

Theory of Music and Musicianship Past written papers for Musicianship and Theory of Music from Grades 1 to 4 now come with sample answers. How will this new syllabus be different from those that have preceded it? Once these syllabuses are withdrawn, only the form of these syllabuses printed in the most current Manual of Syllabuses will be able to be presented for examination.

MyTempo corresponds to the release of AMEB’s recorded accompaniments, allowing users to practise with the accompaniment at any speed they choose. Series 17 includes exciting and challenging repertoire in a range of styles, representing a wealth of new options for candidates and their teachers.
The following publications, available from Novembermay be used with the existing syllabus: Players on other instruments have ample opportunities to experience the joys of collaborative music making, whether by working with a 0214 or by performing as part of small or large ensembles.
And it will all be directed towards supporting engaged and expressive music making. The opportunity to review and reshape a syllabus does not arise very often, so we really wanted to look at every element and come up with something that is fresh and fit for purpose. Previous syllabus writers have all done a great job selecting and organising repertoire lists, and much of that material still represents the best sylalbus what is available. My fellow consultants and I wanted to actively encourage students to broaden their notion of what it is that pianists actually do.
This will be the first full revision of the syllabus since and the release will include new technical work, repertoire including new Manual lists and grade books and sight reading, bringing the syllabus into line with current international best practice.
