Beast-haunted wastelands are criss-crossed by the tracks of the freedom-loving Neobedouins. Even if you never play the game, you will enjoy reading the detailed history of the world of Abney Park. In the case of this one, it comes in the form of a beautiful, abneey color book complete with maps, charts, and illustrations that detail the world of Abney Park that you’ve been hearing about in songs for all these years.

Airship Pirates – Steampunk RPG
The same thoughtfulness and care that has gone into the rest of the book carries on here. The final chapter of the core rules section is the Airships, Vehicles, and Beasts chapter. They studied the huge library of Abney Park songs, and read an advanced copy of the Abney Park novel The Wrath Of Fate, and then wrote like feverish deamons for months to fill in the gaps and create this first detailed look into a world thats been forming in my head, and the collective brains of Abney Park fans for nearly 20 years.
Picking a Background comes next. Skill Based buy or gain skills. I can count on one hand the settings that are as evocative as this.
At first glance, there is not much to look at. In the walled, fog-shrouded cities, people huddle in forced Victorian squalor, lorded over by the upper classes. Rising from the dockyards, the frigates of the Imperial Air Navy patrol the clouds, hunting pirates and threatening the sky-cities. Armoured railroads connect the Emperor’s widely scattered domains.
It is a vivid, fun, solid role playing game. Since the character creation system eschews that, things can kick off with a bang.
You’ve got one of Doctor Calgori’s fancy chronominautilus devices. Our goal is to have this available by August. The Neobedouins are, as you would imagine, nomads and vagabonds who wander the wilderness.
Cracked open, the pages pari flat, a sure sign of quality construction. Giving the party a reason to be, well, a party from the very beginning is both a novel and completely obvious idea. Creating custom airships means that parties never have to run into the same dirigible twice.
Character Points are the currency of Skill and Talent acquisition. The Equipment chapter is pretty self-explanatory, but thoroughly enjoyable. Core Rules min needed to play. From the steampunk sky-cities of Isla Aether and High Tortuga come the airship pirates. More than anything, though, Airship Pirates is a labor of love.
When you say your character was an Automaton Factory Worker or a Misbegotten Prostitute, I am instantly transported to the world of Airship Pirates and I can picture your character vividly. It is a big, impressive, beautiful book.
Airship Pirates Heresy Game Engine. This will make a beautiful coffee table book. It is as easy as that. While it is not labeled as GM only, I am of the mind that the players should know as little as possible. The player gets 3 points to distribute as they will, with the limitation being that they cannot add all 3 to one attribute. A ship full of pirates is one thing, a ship full of pirates who pretend to be traveling mummers is another.
Then there is the GM section. Just this artwork alone is worth the cost.
